Emmie and Brodie’s engagement session at Lake Jocassee, South Carolina, was one for the books! Not only was the setting absolutely breathtaking—seriously, this hidden gem of a mountain lake is unreal—but these two brought so much joy, love, and personality to their outdoor engagement photos.

I first met Emmie back in spring 2023 when I photographed her senior photos at Clemson. From the moment we met, I knew she was such a kind and genuine soul! Fast forward to when she reached out about her wedding photography, and I couldn’t say “YES!!” fast enough. Capturing the different seasons of a client’s life—from senior year to engagement to wedding day—truly lights me up. There’s nothing more special than being a lifetime photographer and growing with my clients through all of their milestones.

Emmie & Brodie’s Love Story

Emmie and Brodie’s story is straight out of a Southern romance novel. Their families met at church when they were babies, and they grew up together as childhood friends. Emmie always had a crush on Brodie (cue the awwws), but the timing was never quite right, until it was. That’s when they finally started dating, and their love story took off in the sweetest way.

When Emmie and Brodie shared how much they love fishing, the outdoors, and spending time on the water, I knew we had to incorporate that into their engagement session. I always encourage my couples to share their interests and passions so I can tailor their session to truly reflect their relationship. These two did just that, and let me tell you—it made ALL the difference.

They brought their fly fishing poles and even did a little casting during the session (adorable, right?!). Plus, we included Emmie’s Jeep in some shots, adding another personal touch that felt so them. It was effortless, playful, and honestly just pure fun. Seeing them giggle, goof around, and fully embrace the moment was pure joy. And what better place to capture their love than Lake Jocassee? With its breathtaking views, it was the perfect setting for their engagement session.

Lake Jocassee is truly one of South Carolina’s best-kept secrets—it’s one of my favorites for outdoor engagement photos in South Carolina. Nestled in the mountains just an hour from Greenville, SC, this lake has crystal-clear waters, dreamy landscapes, and the kind of golden-hour glow that makes photographers swoon. It is stunningggggg! The October weather for their session was perfect. Sunny, a slight breeze, and just the right temperature. Mother Nature really came through for us.

One of my favorite things about this session was how personal it felt to Emmie and Brodie. They truly made it their own, and because they were so open about their relationship and what they love, I was able to pitch creative ideas that felt unique to them.
